Mutators released by Diamond Toymakers in the United States is one of many distributions of MC Toy's prolific, mode changing robot toy line.
While the front of the cardbacks show 'Series 5', this is linked to a variety of other toy lines they distributed. As an example, a series of Gobots bootlegs was Series 2. Series 5 is the only sighted example of MC Toy model Mutators figures to date; 2025.
Are Mutators an official release or bootlegs? It's hard to be sure. While the Mutators Gobots figures were certainly an unlicensed release, the MC Toy Moto-Bot figures appear to be genuine items. It was not uncommon for Western distributors to be sold unofficial items from international wholesalers and distribute them unknowingly. It's very possible the MC Toy figures are genuine, even if they didn't come to Diamond Toymakers through official channels.
All include both die cast metal and plastic components as well as the synonymous pull-back motors
