This is not a final page. Due to the quantity of work required, this is a placeholder to at least provide some reference.
Motorized Robot is the blandly named, unsung beachhead into the United State market of what most will refer to as 'Moto-Bots'. MC Toy made a scouting mission with Dynabot (see Dynabot MC Toy page this section) before launching what would be both the longest lasting and most prolific run of these toys.
Setting the expectation early, while there's a lot of information below, the actual distribution of the lines is at time of writing (2025) very unclear. They were released on cards in both vehicle and robot modes, in multiple countries and over at least seven years. There were also multiple versions of those cards with some marked Macau, China or Hong Kong while the toy stamps often don't match those locations. Investigation into this line will likely be ongoing for some time.
It appears that they may have been first wholesaled by Miami (USA) based company ATICO LTD, then later in a more complete assortment by East West Distributing.
At time of writing (2026) there appears to be no direct link between ATICO and East West and it's likely they both distributed to different retailers. It's confirmed East West Dist. supplied the figures to US based retailer Walgreens (pharmaceutical stores), however it's possible they were also wholesaled to other outlets.
Both ATICO and
East West Dist. also distributed the Moto-Btoz line 1983/1984; see separate page this section). The brunt of Motorized Robot cardback do not show a specific wholesaler and this could indicate direct distribution from MC Toy or import by other unlisted wholesalers
Alt/vehicle mode vs. robot mode cards? The reason MC Toy did this is unclear, however there are some established motivations for different toy packaging. The more prominent is where the toy will be retailed and in what section of the store. Toys sold in service stations/gas stations are traditionally vehicle focused. In a department store toy section, vehicle toys will be racked in one location while action figures are in another. Offering both formats would allow retailers some flexible racking and stocking options and could appeal to stores such as gas stations that may be less likely to stock a robot toy.
The brunt of the Motorized Robot distribution was between 1983 and 84. Some seemed to reappear in 1986 based on a retailer toy catalogue, however it's not confirmed
they arrived on shelves. It's also unknown if this was a new, planned distribution or clearing old stock. MC Toy incorporated Maisto in 1990 and there are examples of the China cardbacks with a Maisto sticker on the back, placing it post 1990. Those cards carried both the original and updated colour scheme figures that Maisto later re-issued for the then Maisto branded 1996 Moto-Bot release.
All include both die cast metal and plastic components as well as the synonymous pull-back motors
See toy line main index and history for further details and toy heights.

Rainbow Toys Distribution unlike the Canadian Grand Toys Dynabots line that has its own section on the site, the Rainbow Toys release still maintained the MC Toy logo on the front of the cardbacks. Best information gathered so far is that this was a Rainbow Toys release distributing on behalf of MC Toy and not Rainbow Toys importing it themselves for their own distribution as Grand did. That's why for now, it's included here.

* details on this release are limited. The assortment, date of release and extent of distribution are largely unconfirmed other than they were sold somewhere between 1990 and 1996 and in Europe; likely elsewhere too. Cardbacks for these figures show the MC Toy logo on the front and often a Maisto sticker on the back. 1990 was a transitional period for MC Toy while they incorporated Maisto. With the reuse of the old Motorized Robot cards and likely desire to make use of existing moulds, they were probably sold in the early 90s. The same assortment was then re-reissued formally by Maisto in 1996 on new cards under the Moto-Bot name; see other page this section.
