8-bit Personal Computer - Dismantled for reference and curiosity
Released in November 1979 the Atari 800 is a great looking 8-bit microcomputer with four joystick ports! Why so few other units had this feature I'll never know.
The 800 came with a mechaincal keyboard, unlike the 400's membrane making it far easier to use for serious typing.
It originally shipped with 8k of memory and that was later shipped with 48k as RAM prices fell.
Even with its better keyboard, dual ROM cartridge slots and greater expandability, the Atari 800 never saw the high sales figures of the Atari 400.
