ATARI 400 - Rev 1 16k PAL Version

Released in November 1979 the Atari 400 is a great looking 8-bit microcomputer with four joystick ports!

Sadly to reduce costs Atari used a membrane keyboard making it horrible to type on for any period of time. This made it almost useless for serious coding, word processing, etc., even though many of us stuck at it.

While the 400 originally shipped with 4k of memory, it was quickly upped to 8kb to match the Atari 800's initial release as RAM prices fell. The 800 was later upgraded to 48kb.

Regardless of its keyboard shortcomings, the Atari 400 greatly outstripped the far superior Atari 800 in sales.
