One of the most iconic gaming.... icons ever, the Atari 2600 Joystick.
Shipped with all Atari VCS / 2600 classic models this unyielding plastic lump has seen cowboys bested, dragons slain and alien armadas shown the door for decades.
With its four direction stick and single button the joystick's main feature was that it was solid and when you hurled it across the room when Pinky caught Pac-Man, 99.9% of the time it survived.
It was deigned around a very basic PCB and used a standard nine pin connector. While it was created for Atari 2600 consoles it could be used with almost any early console and many micro computers for software that only required one button.
I have fond memories from when I was a kid pulling one apart to make a basic driving wheel and pedal set for Grand Prix Circuit on the Commodore 64. Other people obviously thought it was pretty good too as they spawned a multitude of identical clones.
