Narlies are little beasts comprised of a mostly hidden wheel in a body form you push along covered in fluff that makes their tail and head crank up and down.
The Series 1 Narlies were created by Tonka and distributed as part of the Gobots toy line in the US and for both Bandai's European Robo Machine and Australian Machine Men.
Narlies names are shown on blister card fronts hyphenated while the actual toy names are shown on the card rear minus the hyphen.
Series 1 Narlies cardbacks included a clip out 'Collector Card' with a bio on the character and a photographed scene showing the Narlies range incorporated in play with the earlier Rock Lords figures.
Series 2 saw the above Series 1 elements removed from the cardback in place of showing all eight Narlies available and a the following generic text: 'Narlies are more than just pets ...they're wild Rock animals dreaded by the most fierce Rock warriors. They share a quick-tempered fierceness that cannot be trusted. The good Narlies live with Boulder to help during battle with Magmar's evil forces. Magmar uses his herd of pets to secure his conquest of Quartex.'
The Narlies did not receive a Japanese release.

In the US and Australia Narlies are divided into Good and Evil with the balance firmly in the Evil camp. There are only two Good Narlies in total. In Europe they weren't advertised as having set factions and instead the back of the card mentioned they can quickly change from nice to nasty giving them a more free play model.
Cardbacks: Tonka Gobots and Bandai Machine Men cardbacks are distinguishable by 'Tonka' or 'Bandai' appearing at the bottom left on both sides of the cards respectively.
