'Loaded with Action Features!' - Marchon
Explorer Scout is another stand out play value figure in the Mysterians line. It comes with three 'Galactic Maps' you could pretend are anything, stable wheel base, swivel waist and head with ball joint arms.
Some of the other secret features include a compass (sticker) inside the top of its head and the pinky/orange 'Magnifier Lens' does actually work! One of the undocumented features is that the colour of the lens filters out the red parts of the maps in a similar fashion to the Transformers G1 Tech Specs.
The maps store inside Explorer Scout on a shelf accessed by opening the chest door. A nice engineering touch sees the lens pushed out slightly when you open the door, making it easier to grip.
See Mysterians main index for further details.

Prototype A prototype for Explorer Scout can be seen in the front of blister card photos. It features red eyes, silver painted details, a clear colourless lens and an overall blue chromed outer body. The map stickers are also different and appear to be more mechanical vs. the terrain like maps of the production version. The M chest sticker also doesn't match the production release.
Observations The fold down map tray shown in the front of blister card art has what appears to be a window in all three depictions. The same artwork shows six maps stored inside Explorer Scout vs. three that were sold with the figure. As the compartment easily holds six, it's speculation the number of maps may have been reduced to reduce production cost. Taking that further, the prototype maps in the last image could be an example of what the other three maps may have looked like.
