"With Launcher"
One of the more mystifying Gobots release comes in the form of a plastic framed, foam glider launched form a spring loaded pistol released by A.H.M.
On the surface the toy itself makes sense; load the glider into the launcher, pull the release trigger and the spring sends it skyward. It's clearly a low cost, novelty gimmick suitable for stocking stuffers. A.H.M. / Associate Hobby Manufacturers, Inc. based in Philadelphia are most commonly known for scale model railroad trains and were the company responsible for creating the Gobots 'Battle Train' train set They also made a selection of toy cars and other largely non-third party licensed toy products. Why A.H.M. released a toy glider absolutely nothing like anything they'd done before is a mystery. Quite possible A.H.M. contacted the manufacturer they used in Taiwan and asked if they had anything boys toy like they could brand and use and it went from there.
"MIGHTY GUNS"? Adding to the oddness, the default Gobots logo has been modified to read 'Mighty Guns' instead of Mighty Vehicles. This was not the case for items such as the Mighty Pistol or Convertible Laser Gun (see other pages on this site) and it's possible A.H.M. took it upon themselves to make the change. The card also uses 'Gobot' singular, again breaking with Tonka's standard marketing.
Region Codes Used: US United States (region list is correct however likely incomplete)
Gobots US A.H.M.(Leader-1) 1985*
While only the below Leader-1 example has so far been sighted, it's quite possible a Cy-Kill version my also have been offered.
* date - release date is unclear, however as A.H.M. also released the Gobots train set in '85 it's possible, due to their seemingly limited engagement with Tonka, that the Stunt Plane may have been released around the same time.
