Robot AM Radio
The Robot Reporter figure was sourced for SELECT from company Tai Fong TS-558 in Taiwan. Tai Fong were a supplier / distributor and not the original designer for the toy. At this time the original creator is unknown.
This figure largely shares the same sculpt as the Convertors Walkie Talkies with the radio's shoulder mounted weapon replacing the walkie talkie's antenna. Portable AM radios do not require a long, external aerial.
The AM Radio has been placed in the Series 2 / 1985 group due to other transforming robot radios and like electronic toys being released in different toy lines around this time.
The model and packaging is dated 1984, however this is the patent date and doesn't reflect the actual date of distribution.
An actual distribution date is not clear.
See main Convertors index page for more details.

Convertors Robot Reporter US Select 1985
Robot Reporter has been found with either red or blue eye stickers. As one of the two Convertors Robot Walkie Talkies* comes with blue eyes, it's possible this is a factory error or use of surplus blue stickers at the end of the production run and not an planned variant; see example bottom of this page.
* The Walkie Talkies were made with the same head as Robot Reporter.
