Convertors by Select- 1984 to 1985

Convertors are a line of robot toys released by the North American company SELECT which can be manipulated into either
a humanoid robot or secondary form

Most if not all of the models offered by Select are licensed copies of toys previously released by Japanese company MARK.
Mark designed some of the models in-house as well as acquiring others from companies such Takatoku

While there are some stand out examples in the Select Convertors line, Mark's reputation for releasing budget versions of
other company's creations is also well reflected

The Convertors line is a strange yet endearing mix of medium quality diecast cars, cheap copies of classic anime vehicles
and a selection uncommon alt modes not usually robotised

Previously licensed models include:

Takatoku: Battle Armored Battalion Dorvack / Galactic Ranger Sasuraige / Beetras /  Super High Speed Galvion /
Super Dimension Fortress Macross / Super Dimension Century Orguss

MARK: Action Robo / Robo Car / Gokin Robo / Bird Robo/ Zectron

Region Codes Used:
JP Japan / US United States / AU Australia
NOTE: Location codes only shown where items where known to be released
This is accurate yet likely to be incomplete

FAST TRACK
- 9.5 cm

Convertors Series 1 Release 1 US Select (green and red) 1984

Originally designed by Takatoku JP and released as 'Batrain' the design was later
to be renamed 'Sasuraiger' to properly tie in with the Galactic Ranger Sasuraiger
anime. Mark in partnership with Takatoku at the time released a smaller, plastic
version which was later copied for the Select Convertors release
'First Track'

First Track was later reissued as Fast Track, presumably to correct an initial naming
error. Typically First Track is stamped MARK Japan whereas Fast Track is stamped
MARK SELECT Japan. There may be a little cross over

MARK licensed the model to Select US who released it as the Convertor 'Focus'

Focus / Focus Robo is one of the few Convertors which is made from a respectable
amount of diecast metal in both MARK and Select releases

While there are many bootleg versions all see so far have maintained the same level
of diecast material

NOTE: The Convertors line Focus was issued with a reduced stickers from  the
Gokin Robo version and did not come with the camera flash or projectiles

Interestingly all seen bootlegs do come with the flash and missiles accessories

CONVERTORS Series ? 198?

dates were often 1985 and stock stayed on sale into '86

If you have further information please do get in contact
