CG-05 Machine Robo Change & Glow

He has a slightly rough personality and doesn't care for the details. His special ability is the, 'Crushing Loader'. A beam emitted from the yellow signal lights on his chest that can turn a wasteland terrain into a normal road. Maximum Power: 4,500 PS Maximum Speed: 200 kp/h.'
The details in this character bio were drawn from various marketing sources and combined. Translation is as faithful to the original meaning as possible.
4WD CG is one of seven models in the line to contain diecast metal in its construction and one of only five (the first five) to appear in the TV advertisement.
This model was also released in Europe for Bandai's Robo Machines line in conjunction with a number of DX scale Machine Robo (Super Gobots). It was named, 'Rough Rider' and featured unique, 'RM-05' stickers that technically conflict with the 80s Robo Machine figure Train's (Loco) designation of RM-05. Specific to Italy, they were distributed by Giochi Preziosi with box text printed in Italian.
See CG Robo main index for more general details.

Plastic As with many blue Bandai toy plastics from the 80s and early 90s the metallic flecked resin on all examples seen has become extremely brittle over time. So much so that turning in the forearms to change modes is likely to break the joint. Both examples below had one broken arm joint and were restored digitally. The plastic often also darkens leading to no two 4WD / Rough Riders looking exactly alike.
Stickers The Robo Machines release sticker sheet and factor applied stickers are printed on very high gloss material vs. the CG Robo release. So much so that with limited reflected light the black areas become grey; such as the read windows.
Prototype
A photo of a prototype can be seen on the side of both the CG Robo and Robo Machines boxes. The artwork used for both release's boxes is based on that prototype and does not include the black stripes or 4WD text on the side stickers; see end of page.
