ATARI 2600 Trak-Ball Controller Rev A

The Trak-Ball controller while not being anywhere near as precise as a mouse, even a vintage one, was a lot of fun for use with games such as Missile Command.

It worked much the same way as most ball mice, just upside down with the ball obviously being on top. You moved the ball and it rolled the rollers that had little, flat 'fans' on them. When they turned, the breaks in the fans passed in front of light sensitive switches which sent those light breaks as 'joystick' movement to the 2600.
